Term 4 - Greetings from Antarctica
Welcome to the planet’s coldest lands…vast wilds, hostile territories incredibly beautiful yet often deadly.
With the ever-growing importance of climate change, it is vital that our children understand the significance of the polar regions, in identifying changes in world weather conditions and the impact of global warming on the wider world.
The children will then locate the position and begin to understand the significance of the Arctic and Antarctic circle, and their position in the northern and southern hemispheres. They will use maps, globes, atlases and digital sources to locate continents and countries and describe key features and characteristics of these locations. Pupils will research a range of plants and animals and how they are adapted to suit their environments in different ways.
