Safeguarding
Safeguarding Statement
St. Peter's Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy, which can be viewed below.
Sometimes, we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) are Mr T Whitehouse, Headteacher; Mrs Goodson, Deputy Headteacher; Mrs Newport, Deputy Headteacher; Mr Irwin, Class Teacher, Head of Year 6 and Mrs Wilson, Learning Mentor.
Standards of safety and security are high at St Peter’s and will always be our absolute priority.
Registration
Children are registered at 8.55am. If a child is absent without us knowing why we will contact the parent concerned as quickly as possible.
Entrances and exits
Visitors are required to report to the school office before entering the school, where they are signed in and given an identification badge.
Children leaving school
Children are always checked out of school by a member of staff, ensuring that either a parent is there to collect them or that they have the necessary permission to walk home on their own. This applies at the end of the core school day, the end of an after school club and at the end of our extended day facility.
