Term 2 - Ancient Egyptians:Tombs and Tutankhamun
Let’s travel back 5000 years to ancient Egypt, cruising along the Nile, entering a world of mysteries, curses and mummies.
The children will gain an overview about where and when the first civilizations appeared and will engage in an in-depth study of Ancient Egypt, particularly focusing on its pharaohs. Children will gain an understanding of the wider world and its historical and cultural importance.
We implement this by embedding a sense of chronology of the era, through placing historical events and change on a historical timeline. We learn first-hand about the gruesome process of mummification and will write a report about Howard Carter’s famous discovery and use a range of sources to research about Tutankhamun’s tomb. Studying historical sources will help us learn more about the pharaohs, the Egyptian Gods and ancient religious beliefs. We will consider how the Ancient Egyptians contributed to world history.
